WEDNESDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY
September 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18, and 25
7:00 p.m. (Meets via ZOOM)
We’ll resume our Wednesday evening Bible study on September 20, 7:00 p.m., with a 6-week look at the scripture verses and concepts that led to the Protestant Reformation and discover how the biblical concept of justification by faith is just as relevant and true for Christianity as it was in Martin Luther’s time. Our study will be enriched by videos by author and pastor Rob Fuquay and readings from his book, A New Reformation. We’ll take a close look at the life of Martin Luther and the world of sixteenth-century Europe. We will discover what makes Luther’s message revolutionary today—and how we can embrace Reformation in the church and in our personal lives.
The book is available for purchase at the church office for $20. PLEASE NOTE THAT READING FOR THE BIBLE STUDY SESSIONS IS NOT REQUIRED. Please feel free to join us for the class sessions only if you prefer.
Please see the monthly Star newsletter, weekly announcements, or contact the office or Pr Ron if you need the Zoom login info.

READING WITH THE REV - a monthly book discussion with Pastor Ron
Tuesday, September 26, 2023 7:00 p.m. (Meets via ZOOM)
THIS MONTH: Lincoln’s God: How Faith Transformed a President and a Nation, by Joshua Zeitz
More than any president before him—or any president after, until George W. Bush—Lincoln harnessed popular religious enthusiasm to build broad-based support for a political party and a cause. A master politician who was sincere about his religion, Lincoln held beliefs that were unconventional—and widely misunderstood then, as now. After his death and the end of an unforgiving war, Americans needed to memorialize Lincoln as a Christian martyr. The truth was, of course, considerably more complicated, as this original book explores. Join us as we explore Lincoln’s spiritual journey from spiritual skeptic to America's first evangelical Christian president/believer—a conversion that changed both the Civil War and the practice of religion itself.
Please see the monthly Star newsletter, weekly announcements, or contact the office or Pr Ron if you need the Zoom login info.
2023 Reading with the Rev calendar:
October 24 Wade in the Water, by Nyani Nkrumah
November 28 Soul Boom, by Rainn Wilson
December 19 This Tender Land, by William Kent Kruger
